The first time I visited a fortune teller it was because of impulsive curiosity. A friend and I passed an illuminated neon sign on the second floor of a Toronto storefront, with the words PSYCHIC STUDIO, and decided to get readings. Flipping my palm upwards, the aging psychic read the lines of my hand, and told me I would have two children, be married by 27, find success in my career and that Mondays were my lucky day. Skeptical but relieved she didn't mention impending doom or a third child, I handed her a 20 and left.
