Famed astronaut Buzz Aldrin is in stable condition at a hospital in New Zealand after he was rescued from Antartica by a Glenville-based Air National Guard airlift wing Thursday.
A statement on Aldrin's website reports the 86-year-old has fluid in his lungs and is now on antibiotics.
A ski-equipped cargo plane based at the Stratton Air National Guard base in Schenectady County flew Aldrin to McMurdo Station on the Antarctic Coast.
