    Major League Baseball announced pace of play initiatives for the 2018 season this afternoon; thankfully, they did not put in a pitch clock... There will be no pitch clock. There will be no in-between at bats timer either or whatever it was going to be called. Phew. Via MLBs press release this afternoon: The Commissioner has decided to defer the implementation of a pitch timer and a between-batter timer in 2018 in order to provide players with an opportunity to speed up the game without the use of those timers.

    NEW YORK - Major League Baseball imposed stricter limits on mound visits by players in an effort to speed games but decided against 20-second pitch clocks for 2018.
    After more than a year of negotiations, the Major League Baseball Players Association refused to agree to the changes but also signed an agreement that it will not oppose the rules.
