• Special Olympics brings joy to athletes, volunteers

    By Linda Lynn News Research Editor STILLWATER - There was an excitement as the Olympians arrived Thursday in Stillwater, bringing with them an entourage - teachers, aides, parents, siblings, grandparents, friends - all ready to cheer the determined athletes on.
    The 2018 Special Olympics Oklahoma Summer Games continue Friday, and by the time the last race is run, more than 5,000 athletes will have competed in the three-day event.
    It won't matter whether their school team's T-shirts were green or red or tie-dyed.
